My Story
Striving for balance, physically and metaphorically
In today's fast-paced world, getting caught up in a high-stress work environment that leaves little room for self-care is easy. I’ve been there and I have to work daily to make sure I find the balance. Stretching is my passion but it’s not my job. My job, like most of you, can be stressful and is almost always sedentary. There are days when I wonder what the sun looks like. Those days remind me why I started a yoga practice and eventually founded stretch inc.
My yoga journey began in 2005. I used it as a space to relieve tension, get warm ( I do love a hot yoga room) and quiet my mind. But the realities of my job meant yoga was only a temporary relief. I needed more, so in 2010, I was certified as a yoga instructor. I spent the next 10 years deepening my practice, striving for balance (physically and metaphorically), and focusing on my passion as a teacher – making yoga accessible to anyone. Getting at accessibility led me to discover a lot of misconceptions between yoga and stretching and to unravel some deep fears that hold a lot of people back. My new passion is dismantling those misconceptions and removing the labels that seem intimidating or keep people from starting.
